Clean Fuels Ohio has recognized Arctic Express with a "3 star" certification for its efforts in cutting vehicle emissions and petroleum fuel consumption.
The fleet was honored at the inaugural Ohio Green Fleet Award ceremony, held at the Ohio Department of Transportation headquarters Thursday.

The 25 Ohio Green Fleets accepted the awards from Chris Korleski, Ohio EPA director, Mark Shanahan, director of the Ohio Air Quality Development Authority, and Sam Spofforth, executive director of Clean Fuels Ohio.

The 25 recipients have displaced 3.97 million gallons of petroleum and eliminated over 56 tons of nitrous oxide, two tons of particulate matter, three tons of volatile organic compounds, and 22,527 tons of carbon dioxide.

"By taking the initiative to reduce emissions and petroleum consumption, these fleets have all helped to improve public health and the environment as well as strengthen America's energy security," said Spofforth.

"What's really encouraging is that the majority of fleets are able to save money as well as the environment," Brad Couch, program director.
