Medium-duty production is expected to be down 44 percent in 2009, and will recover only half of that in 2010.
According to ACT Research's N.A. Commercial Vehicle Outlook, inventories for heavy-duty trucks are steady, while Classes 5-7 continue to drop.

"Coupled with continued weak demand, the General Motors announcement to exit the space sent shock waves through the system," said Steve Tam, vice president of the commercial vehicle sector of ACT Research. "Production will continue to be weaker into 2010 as GM inventories are worked off."

ACT publishes commercial vehicle industry data, market analysis and forecasting services for the North American market.
