As a result of a 15 percent increase in freight volumes, Transport America is soliciting the services of drivers, primarily in the Midwest.

"We were competitive in the second quarter bid process, which led to this additional freight," said Scott Arves, president. Now the company needs more drivers to move that freight.

The Eagan, Minn.-based carrier expects the increase to continue throughout the month of June. The freight is mostly drop and hook, clean freight. The company needs drivers in Iowa, Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Tennessee and Georgia. Drivers can move into dedicated routes from these opportunities.

"Drivers can expect to see consistent, quality miles with meaningful home time, which not a lot of other carriers can truthfully say these days," said Arves. "In addition, Transport America offers a very competitive pay package, with top drivers able to earn 45 cents per mile in base rate and bonus."

Transport America offers services to its employees, including SurePay, which allows drivers to verify and approve their pay on every load; a Do Not Disturb macro, which notifies the company when drivers are taking their break; and Get Home Certificates, which are issued to all drivers every quarter.
