TravelCenters of America announced today that all 234 of its TravelCenters of America and Petro Stopping Centers locations are stocked with 2.5 gallon containers of diesel exhaust fluid for retail sale.

DEF, as it's known, is the urea solution that will be required for diesel engines using selective catalytic reduction to meet 2010 emissions standards.

Also, DEF is now available to every one of the 400 RoadSquad emergency roadside assistance vehicles at TA and Petro locations for trucks who run out of DEF while on the highway.

TA and Petro say they are the first travel centers to offer these containers. The vented bottle style, supplied by Colonial Chemical Company of Tabernacle, N.Y., will optimize flow speed and includes an extended nozzle for easy dispensing.

TravelCenters announced in May the successful launch of the nation's first retail DEF bulk dispensing operation at its facility in Ann Arbor, Mich. This dispensing equipment was developed by TA in conjunction with Colonial Chemical Company.
