Oil Purification Systems has received $2.5 million in funding from Atlantic Capital Group, Sterling Passive Investments, RDA Ventures, USA Fund and Connecticut Innovations, to grow its line of products and beef up customer service.

OPS offers a line of fluid cleaning products that remove the solid and liquid contaminants from engine oil, which can save fleet owners thousands of dollars in maintenance costs. The company's system was originally designed for the trucking industry, but it has expanded into the waste management, oil and gas, construction and mining industries, the company says.

In other changes, the company has promoted Chief Operating Officer Greg Slawson to the role of CEO. Slawson served as vice president of automotive solutions for Global Logistics Technologies before joining OPS. His history also includes stints at Ford Motor Company, Visteon Automotive Systems and Deloitte Consulting.

"OPS' products continue to gain acceptance in a growing number of industries," said Slawson. "This latest round of funding enables us to increase our efforts in developing even better products in the future that will help our customers and potential customers save more money in oil maintenance costs, while also decreasing the negative effects that oil waste can have on the environment."
