Insurance company Marsh Canada has created an online driver training system to help fleets boost the quality of their drivers.
The Marsh Driver Improvement System, which is powered by CarriersEdge, features online courses, testing and a system for tracking activities.

"Ongoing driver training is a key component of an effective risk management strategy, but every day we see the challenges our clients face in trying to deliver that training without disrupting operations," said Greg St. Croix, a vice president of risk consulting at Marsh. "We are always looking for ways to help clients overcome those challenges, and this program provides a powerful, cost-effective way to do that."

The system's training modules focus on fundamentals, including safe driving practices, hours of service, vehicle inspection and dangerous goods. The modules also go deeper into Marsh-specific content, including cargo security awareness and driver behavior assessment. Fleets can obtain college credit for the courses toward Humber College's Certificate in Small Business Management for the Trucking Industry.

The online system will be rolled out to new clients at first, but will also be available during the annual renewal for existing clients.

Marsh, a unit of Marsh & McLennan Companies, is an insurance broker and risk advisor. CarriersEdge provides online driver quality improvement solutions, the company says.
