Swift Transportation was recognized by Arizona's Maricopa County for the trucking company's Trip Reduction Program implemented at its corporate headquarters.

The TRP's mandate is to improve air quality within Maricopa County by reducing employers' and schools' carbon footprint through carpooling and alternative modes of transport to work.

"Swift's employees have made a conscious effort to reduce traffic congestion and to reduce the environmental impact associated with green house emissions through carpooling, public transportation and riding bicycles to work," says Don Diggins, HR Compliance Manager of Swift, who is responsible for the program.

Greg Moeller, Transportation Plan Auditor for the County of Maricopa in Arizona, stated in a letter to Swift, "I want to thank you for your time and dedication seen at the last Annual TRP monitoring site visit. It was very clear to me the employer TRP program is successfully implemented due to your efforts. Keep up the good work. Your commitment and that of your fellow employees does make a difference in the air quality for our community."
