Officials in Mission, Texas, announced the Anzalduas International Crossing, America's newest border crossing into Mexico, will be finished later this fall.

There currently are two international crossings in the Mission area, the Hidalgo-Reynosa and Pharr-Reynosa international bridges. However, Anzalduas International Crossing will be the newest and one of the largest international crossings in the country.

Further, it will directly connect Mission to Reynosa, Taumalipas (a primary hub for maquiladoras and industrial activity in Mexico), and undoubtedly increase traffic flow in the area and strengthen economic ties.

The United States and Mexico partnered to build the Anzalduas International Crossing, a $168 million investment.

Eight international bridges connect South Texas with the industrial border communities of Reynosa, Matamoros and Monterrey, Mexico. Together, regional population totals more than 3 million with the Mission/McAllen area being their nearest U.S. retail market.

Reynosa is one of the most important cities in Mexico when it comes to importing and exporting goods and vehicle traffic.
