Peterbilt of Norfolk (Nebraska) opened a new $2 million 18,000-square-foot service center along Highway 81 at Monroe Avenue.

"Norfolk is home to a variety of major industries that operate large highway fleets to transport their products," said Tom Niewohner, chief operating officer for Sioux City Truck Sales, which operates several Peterbilt heavy-truck dealerships in the region. "Also, the Norfolk area is home base for quite a few trucking companies. And, Highway 81 and Highway 275 are popular routes for commercial trucks. Based upon these factors, we began by opening a small Peterbilt parts store in Norfolk eight years ago."

In 2000, the company leased an existing 1,600-square-foot store at 1018 Monroe Avenue. The volume of parts business grew rapidly. Meanwhile, many customers expressed the need for factory-trained mechanics to repair and maintain their vehicles. When three bays became available in parts building, truck service was added in 2004.

"This larger new state-of-the-art service center will feature 10 service bays, which will greatly increase our efficiency and capabilities," he said. "More truck parts and accessories will be available in the expanded 4,000-square-foot retail parts store and warehouse in the new building."

The dealership's newest service is the ability to sell new and used commercial trucks. "The dealership will now offer a full line of new heavy-duty and medium-duty Peterbilt trucks, along with used commercial vehicles," Niewohner said.

Peterbilt of Norfolk is one of four dealerships in the region owned by SCTS. SCTS also operates full-service Peterbilt dealerships in Sioux City, Des Moines and Council Bluffs-Omaha.
