Michelin's truck tire plant in Spartanburg, S.C., was recently presented a Michelin Global Safety Award for attaining 2 million safe work hours without a serious injury.

In a ceremony at the plant, Pete Selleck, president of Michelin's worldwide truck tire business and member of Michelin Group Executive Council, presented the award to plant manager Tom Whalen.

"Within the Michelin manufacturing family, the Spartanburg plant is a shining example for its safety record," said Selleck. "The Spartanburg team has implemented programs here that ensure the safest possible manufacturing operation by rewarding safe behaviors. It's evident this plant demonstrates one of Michelin's core values - respect for people - every day."

In addition to the safety award presentation, the Spartanburg facility also reached the milestone of the production of its 50 millionth tire.
