Pressure Systems International recently celebrated its 15th anniversary at a Fleet Technology event held in San Antonio.

According to the company, automatic tire inflation as a new technology for commercial vehicles was born in San Antonio in 1993 when Marvin L. Berry, PSI's founder, acquired a patent for an inflation system to solve a tire-wear problem for an aggregate hauling fleet of 250 plus trailers that he owned.

Today, PSI has 29 patents issued; and the Meritor Tire Inflation System (MTIS) by PSI is widely used in North America, with a presence in 39 countries worldwide. In the U.S., 120 of the top 250 for-hire and 48 of the top 100 private fleets have MTIS installed on their trailers.

EPA's SmartWay Transport Partnership endorses the technology to reduce the consumption of fuel.
