Canada's largest for-hire trucking company, TransForce, has made a deal to acquire Quebec-based LTL fleet Transport Couture et Fils Itée (TCFL),
according to todaystrucking.com.

TCFL has 215 employees including 139 drivers and some 105 tractors and 370 trailers. It ranks as the 18th largest carrier in Quebec.

Transforce officials told todaystrucking.com that TCFL is a great fit in its specialized LTL sector, especially because of its expertise in cross-border transport. TCFL general manager Serge Poulin will keep running the company.

According to its web site, TransForce's growth strategy is to acquire well-managed companies that are leaders in their market and effectively oversee their performance. Acquired companies usually retain their name, distinctive culture and management. From October 2002 - May 2008, TransForce made more than 80 acquisitions. Earlier this year, the company, previously known as TransForce Income Fund, converted from an income fund to a corporation (TransForce Inc.)
