The American Trucking Associations and America's Road Team were in Dearborn, Mich. on Saturday, Sept. 13, participating in the Ford Motor Company Regional Job Fair.

Through Ford Motor Company's efforts to introduce displaced employees to careers in new industries, the American Trucking Associations is working to show the benefits of a career in trucking with its driver recruitment campaign, GetTrucking.com. The job fair allows Ford workers to explore options for a second career, and at the same time helps industries such as trucking recruit new candidates to ease the driver shortage.

GetTrucking.com's redesigned web site serves as the online resource for potential drivers, driving schools and motor carriers to fill the demand for truck driving jobs. New candidates can use the web site to find motor carriers or truck schools that will help them get started in a truck driving career.

America's Road Team Captain Al Adams, a driver for Roadway, was also there to talk about his 38 years and over 3 million miles of experience as a professional truck driver.

GetTrucking.com is a nationwide effort to promote positive images of truck driving and to recruit long haul truck drivers into the industry. The overall goal of the campaign is to increase the base of individuals who typically become long haul drivers to include previously untapped labor pools. The advertising campaign directs new candidates, current truck drivers, motor carriers and trucking schools to the website.
