If you have to go through Denver August 23-30, the Colorado State Patrol and the Denver Police recommend you allow extra travel time through the Denver metropolitan area, as the city is hosting the 2008 Democratic National Convention.

If you're transporting placarded quantities of hazardous materials that are required to be routed under Colorado's hazardous materials routing regulations, you will need to be aware of the designation of alternative routes that will be in effect during the period of the DNC.

Due to the Democratic National Convention, the following alternative temporary routes are established for hazardous materials and will be in effect from August 23 - 30. Quantities of hazardous materials that are required to be routed will be restricted from downtown Denver,
except for local pickup and delivery.

Through shipments of hazardous materials being transported by a motor vehicle in quantities that are required to be routed are restricted from travelling on southbound Interstate 25 from its junction with Interstate 76 to its junction with Interstate 225, and on northbound Interstate 25 from its junction with Interstate 225 to its junction with Interstate 76.
