The Utah Department of Transportation has launched iTruck, a campaign to help truckers avoid delays and closures while traveling through the state.

The campaign features an interactive web site with road construction information specific to the trucking industry.

"ITruck is the one-stop source for information on road construction projects in Utah," said Rick Clasby, head of UDOT's Motor Carriers Division. "This tool will help truckers to find the best routes and to avoid costly delays."

The campaign, which highlights approximately 30 significant road construction projects statewide provides up-to-date information, timelines, restrictions and alternative routes.

Some of the major projects highlighted on iTruck for the 2008 construction season include the following:

• Eight safety projects on U.S. 6 between Spanish Fork and Green River will result in truckers experiencing delays and reduced speed limits along the corridor through August; the alternate route is I-15 to S.R. 50 to I-70.

• Construction on and along the I-80 corridor through Salt Lake City and Parleys Canyon will replace bridges resulting in the numerous traffic delays. I-80 between State Street and 1300 will frequently be restricted to one lane beginning June 21 through the first week in August, and there will be a number of shorter closures as well.

In addition to the Web site, iTruck posters and flyers will begin to appear at truckstops and ports of entry in late June.
