Last week, the second of a planned coast-to-coast network of medical clinics targeted at truck drivers opened at a truckstop in Tennessee.

Roadside Medical Clinic + Lab and Pilot Travel Centers celebrated the grand opening of the Knoxville, Tenn., clinic located at the Strawberry Plains Pilot Travel Center. The first clinic opened in Georgia earlier this year, and plans are in place to open 16 locations in 2008 and 20 more in 2009.

In addition to the management of the medical clinics, Roadside Medical offers innovative driver wellness program designed to accommodate drivers' travel schedules.

"Roadside Medical Clinic & Lab is different than any other medical resource available to drivers today," said Joe Neely of Roadside Medical. "We provide drivers with medical assistance and we make it easy for them to integrate practical health care solutions into their schedules."

For a nominal price per month, drivers and companies can choose wellness services including a complete physical assessment and annual wellness planning, one-on-one health coaching via the phone, a monitoring and exercise program, an online wellness center, wellness screening and DOT exams, a spousal outreach program and more.

Roadside Medical clinics require no appointment and offer general medical attention from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

Roadside Medical's coaches include registered nurses, certified fitness trainers, registered dieticians, certified health education specialists and smoking cessation facilitators. Individuals work with their personal coach to create a customized plan that includes a structured framework, timeline and progress indicators to help drivers reach their goals and enjoy the benefits of a healthier lifestyle.
