Sugarland will headline Kenworth Truck Co.'s 20th annual Customer Appreciation Concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 28, at the 2008 Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky.
"We're honored and excited to present Sugarland
in a memorable evening of musical entertainment as Kenworth offers a special thanks to the many dedicated trucking professionals who represent the trucking industry," said Gary Moore, Kenworth assistant general manager for marketing and sales. "We look forward to hosting truckers for the 20th year at the Kenworth Customer Appreciation Concert."
Led by lead singer Jennifer Nettles and singer/songwriter Kristian Bush, Sugarland was recently named Vocal Duo of the Year at the 41st Annual Country Music Association (CMA) Awards. The honor tops Sugarland's list of awards and nominations since the group debuted with its first major label album ("Twice the Speed of Life"), and first hit single ("Baby Girl/Stand Back Up") in 2004.
The group's current album, "Enjoy the Ride," has sold over a million copies and produced two top hits ("Want To" and "Settlin' ").
Sugarland has been honored by the American Music Awards (favorite new breakthrough artist) and American Country Music Awards (new duo or vocal group). The group also collected a Grammy nomination (best new artist) and Nettles won a Grammy (best country vocal collaboration) with Bon Jovi in 2007.
In addition, Sugarland won the Country Music Television award for best duo video ("Want To"), and received CMA nominations for single of the year, vocal group of the year, and the Horizon Award in 2005, and was again nominated for the latter two awards in 2006.
Lady Antebellum, a country music trio featuring Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood, is slated as the concert's opening act. The trio has also opened for such popular country acts as Martina McBride, Carrie Underwood, Phil Vassar, Josh Turner and Rodney Atkins. Lady Antebellum's debut single, "Love Don't Live Here," is climbing the charts. The band's first album is scheduled for release this spring.
The Kenworth Customer Appreciation Concert will be held in Freedom Hall, next to the Mid-America Trucking Show and part of the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center.
Complimentary Sugarland concert tickets, courtesy of Kenworth, will be available to CDL holders only (limit of two tickets per person). Tickets, while supplies last, will be distributed in the South Hall Lobby Booth No. 2 starting at 10 a.m. on both Thursday, March 27, and Friday, March 28.
