The Heil Institute of Technology announces its 2008 schedule of factory training courses designed to help customers maximize their return on investment in Heil refuse and recycling equipment by increasing uptime.
New this year, Heil has dramatically reduced class size and doubled the number of instructors in order to provide more individualized attention. Each class will be limited to 10 students taught by two instructors.
Joel Barnes, Heil technical training manager, said, "We're also planning to divide classes into teams that will compete with each other on maintenance exercises, so they'll enjoy themselves more while learning at the same time."
Most of the classes are held at the Heil Customer Support Center in Fort Payne, Ala., adjacent to one of Heil Environmental's key North American manufacturing plants. To better serve customers in the West, five classes are planned for Phoenix, Ariz.
Each class covers basic hydraulics, pneumatics and DC electronics, cycle times and unit operation, model-specific in-depth hydraulic system operation, preventative maintenance procedures, adjustments and pressure settings, and other technical aspects of specific Heil bodies. Equipment safety and operation are also taught.
The non-refundable fee for any of the courses held in Fort Payne is $500, which includes the use of comprehensive training aids, lunch each day and a certificate of course completion. For classes in Phoenix, which have fewer hands-on components, the fee is reduced to $250 per person. Students are responsible for travel, lodging and other meals. Technicians who complete a course are eligible to earn continuing education units (CEUs). Advance registration is required.
