Eaton Corp. has been named one of "The Most Committed Multi-National Corporations to Corporate Social Responsibility in China" by Foreign Investment in China magazine.
Twenty-three companies such as Eaton,
DuPont, Pepsi, Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, Intel and BASF were recognized for their strong leadership in corporate social responsibility and positive engagement in the communities in China.
Eaton was honored for its active role in protecting the environment through its efforts to create green dynamics for sustainable development.
"We are proud to receive such a distinguished award. It is recognition of our continuing commitment to the Chinese market, and our dedication to improving life in the communities in which we do business," said James W. McGill, Eaton vice president - Asia/Pacific.
The winners were selected by a panel of experts, government officials and media representatives who based their decision on public image, responsibility and environmental protection. The panel of experts included scholars and professors from top Chinese universities, research institutes and government think tanks.
Eaton began operations in China in 1993 through a joint venture agreement to manufacture steering control units and hydraulic motors. Since then, its presence has grown significantly in the region through acquisitions, joint ventures and wholly owned subsidiaries.
