Leading Edge Logistics (LEL) has acquired Blue Wing Global Logistics, the just first major acquisition in the company's 11-year history.
Blue Wing Global Logistics, headquartered in Dallas,
Texas, operates as a domestic and international freight forwarder as well as a truck brokerage operation. BWGL operates regional forwarding in Atlanta, Ga., and Newark, N.J.
BWGL offers a service that up until now Leading Edge was outsourcing, and they operate in locations that LEL does not.
"This opportunity provides Leading Edge Logistics an additional platform from which to grow, as well as provides us more sales firepower around our great nation," Tom Torcomian, president of Leading Edge Logistics.
Blue Wing's CEO and President Richard Parmer will continue to be the driving force behind BWGL. Parmer graduated from the University of North Texas and has more than 30 years of management experience in the transportation industry.
BWGL currently has about 30 employees, bringing the LEL family to more than 80. The new entity will be called, Blue Wing Global Logistics LLC: A Leading Edge Logistics Company.
