Eaton Corp. has announced that the company's family of automated medium- and heavy-duty transmissions now includes 49 configurations that are currently operating in North America. The announcement follows
the recent approval and release of new configurations added in the first three quarters of this year.
"We now have six automated platforms, with 49 individual configurations that are available with virtually every diesel engine now operating within North America," said Mark Thurman, general manager - Heavy-Duty Fleet and Automated Products, Eaton. "Our breadth of product is at an all-time high and continues to provide our customers with the largest quantity of automated transmission choices in North America."
Thurman added that Eaton automated transmissions also are available through all of the roughly 2,600 North American OEM dealerships where sales and service support is provided by more than 5,000 trained technicians.
The coverage includes 5, 6, 10, 13 and 18-speed designs, with torque capacity ratings ranging from 660 to 2,250 pounds-feet. Eaton's automated family includes the two-pedal Fuller HV (Highway Value) medium-duty transmission, and the Fuller LST (Linehaul Standard), LHP (Linehaul High Performance) and LEP (Linehaul Efficient Performance) UltraShift heavy-duty transmissions; and the three-pedal Fuller AutoShift heavy-duty transmissions.
Thurman said that Eaton's automated coverage will continue to expand, with additional new UltraShift models now planned for introduction in 2008. The new transmissions, he said, will expand Eaton's automated family into new vocational trucking markets.
