StarTrak Systems LLC, a subsidiary of Alanco Technologies, has delivered ReeferTrak solutions integrated with Carrier Transicold's truck, trailer and rail car refrigeration unit product lines.

StarTrak now offers cellular, satellite and radio frequency solutions integrated with Carrier's Advance, Summit and Vector microprocessors. StarTrak's solutions use wireless communications to permit customers to remotely access the complete two-way microprocessor protocol for Carrier Transicold refrigeration units. This interface provides customers with the capabilities, in real time, to observe set point and operating temperatures, refrigerated operating state, mode of operation, maintenance information, alarm events, fuel levels, Carrier's unique Intelliset capabilities, Automatic Fresh Air exchange settings, door status and any local operator activity occurring to the refrigeration system.
ReeferTrak also allows customers to remotely change operating temperatures, the modes of operation, clear microprocessor alarms, read history data, run maintenance checks (pre-trips), change Intellisets and turn the refrigeration unit on or off.
StarTrak also provides information when the refrigeration unit is off, such as GPS location, geofence entry and exit, mileage, tractor identification, fuel levels, refueling and theft events, among others. StarTrak offers significant flexibility for customers in the network operations and data delivery areas. StarTrak's network RAMP (Refrigerated Asset Monitoring Platform) solution allows customers to manage refrigeration equipment from multiple vendors via a single web site and network interface. New functionalities available on the reefer units can be brought on-line quickly through the RAMP interface and the solution allows for extensive historical performance review and data mining. StarTrak has fulfilled independent testing requirements to validate achievement of the transport industries quality standards, which in addition to environmental reliability, demand stringent interface requirements between the two companies' mission critical electronics.
"StarTrak and Carrier have a long-term technical working relationship," said Tom Robinson, StarTrak's executive vice president. "Telematics is a demanding, performance-oriented business, which requires the StarTrak to deliver the right solution to customers at exceptional price and performance levels." The availability of lower cost electronics and communications platforms has accelerated interest in the wireless monitoring solutions in the North American refrigerated truck/trailer market.
