Qualcomm Inc. and Maptuit Corp. have entered into an agreement to make available Maptuit's NaviGo on the OmniVision mobile computing platform. Maptuit NaviGo is a real-time, hybrid (a combination of onboard and server-based technologies),
in-cab navigation service that provides professional truck drivers and trucking companies with interactive maps. Qualcomm plans to offer NaviGo on the OmniVision platform later this year.
The OmniVision mobile computing platform is an integrated system consisting of hardware, software and network infrastructure, enabling delivery of two-way data communications and value-added services to enterprises in a mobile environment. The OmniVision platform enables fleets to enjoy a host of new features and benefits while using value-added services available for current Qualcomm mobile systems. Advanced text-to-speech capability improves driver safety and productivity by allowing drivers to listen to and replay messages, eliminating the need to pull over and stop the vehicle to read a text message. The platform also features an integrated, color touchscreen and a remote control device, providing drivers quick access to critical information.
The Maptuit NaviGo solution enables fleets to leverage the industry's only hybrid, real-time navigation solution that provides an improved driver experience. Maptuit's technology and its community of over 80,000 drivers continue to enhance and update the road network.
