Schneider National Inc., has been ranked 17th on G.I. Jobs’ annual list of Top 50 Military-Friendly Employers. The company received the distinction for its successful recruiting efforts and benefits programs for reservists,
National Guard members and veterans. This is the first time Schneider National has been named among the top 50.
G.I. Jobs’ ranking of the Top 50 Military-Friendly Employers is based on two surveys – one on company policies supporting reservists and National Guard members called to active duty and another that explores recruiting and hiring initiatives as well as special programs such as community involvement.
“Schneider National’s history recruiting from the military dates back to 1935 when its founder, Al Schneider, a long-time member of the Wisconsin National Guard, recruited Guard members and veterans,” said Rob Reich, vice president of enterprise recruiting at Schneider National. “We value the specific talents, work ethic and safety skills of these individuals and take pride in designing programs that support their ongoing commitment to the country, as well as their efforts to transition back to civilian careers.”
Schneider offers numerous programs for military employees, including extended benefits. Soldiers maintain their benefits while on military leave and receive the difference between military pay, if less than their Schneider base pay, for 18 months. The company supports Guard and reserve members’ availability for drills, and does not require members to take vacation or flex time for annual training. Schneider also supports families of deployed associates and guarantees associates’ jobs upon their return. Schneider is active in the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, encouraging employers to hire members of the Guard and reserves, and supporting participation in reserve units.
