Shares of MAN AG rose on speculation that Volkswagen AG and Scania AB would organize a counter bid for the German truckmaker, which last month offered to buy Scania.

"It seems that MAN was the poacher and now a combined Volkswagen-Scania could turn the table around," said Lee Humphreys, head of European sales trading at E Trade Securities Ltd. in London. MAN shares rose 5.7 percent to 74 euros ($94.20) in Frankfurt.
