US Xpress Enterprises has completed the acquisition of a 49 percent interest in Abilene Motor Express, a Virginia-based truckload carrier.

The Abilene management team, led by CEO Keith Jones and president Kolen Jones, will remain in place and together will control 51 percent of Abilene.
Abilene will operate independently from US Xpress, using Abilene's current facility in Richmond, Virginia.
According to US Xpress CEO Max Fuller, Abilene is a well-managed truckload carrier and US Xpress has no intention of interfering with that success.
This acquisition follows a deal in February this year when US Xpress acquired an 80 percent ownership interest in Arnold Transportation Services.
