DriverTech, which manufactures on-board computers for the trucking industry, and Air-Weigh, which provides on-board electronic scales, announced a strategic relationship to deliver real-time load and vehicle axle
and payload weight information via the DriverTech TruckPC Fleet Management System.
Air-Weigh offers on-board weight management systems that include vehicle and on-board computer integration capability. For those tractors with both Air-Weigh scales and the Driver Tech TruckPC installed, weight information may be transferred from the scale to the TruckPC over the vehicle's J1708 data bus and then seamlessly transmitted over a wireless network.
When an Air-Weigh-equipped tractor picks up a trailer with an Air-Weigh scale, the trailer weight data is also automatically sent to the DriverTech TruckPC Fleet Management System and is included in the GVW and net payload weights.
"DriverTech and Air-Weigh have teamed up to offer an integrated on-board solution that provides the tractor steer and drive axle weight, trailer axle weight, gross vehicle weight, and net payload weight. The weight information may be logged on-board or transmitted over a wireless network from the vehicle to the customer's host site," said Martin Ambros, president and CEO of Air-Weigh. "By working with DriverTech to offer this solution, we are helping their customers save money with a system that contributes to efficient and productive trucking operations and provides a quick return on investment."
"The open architecture of DriverTech's TruckPC Fleet Management system allows direct access to data sources such as the weight information provided by Air-Weigh throughout the truck," said Mark Haslam, DriverTech's president and CEO. "By combining our progressive in-cab system with Air-Weigh's load management system, we can dramatically increase productivity for our customers."
