Terion Inc. and Add On Systems Inc. have completed the first phase of a web-services integration for AS400 dispatch applications.

The joint development uses features found in Terion’s FleetView trailer tracking system — including intelligent event capturing and reporting technologies — to power Add On Systems’ Trailer Monitoring and Management (TMMi) application, which features Trailer Detention and Find Trailer modules.
Add On Systems and Terion developed the integration for carriers that use the iSeries (AS/400) platform. With the new solution, trailer information is transferred via web services from the Terion web site to Add On Systems’ iSeries platform. The link ties the host dispatch system to the tractor’s mobile communication system — thereby simplifying the process of tracking a trailer for usage, location, history or status. The system is comprised of several optional sub modules, including Trailer Control, Trailer Pools, Trailer Alerts, Trailer Security, Trailer Utilization & Reporting and Trailer Detention.
“The joint development effort between Terion and Add On Systems has been hugely successful in leveraging the benefits of both technologies. This most recent collaboration increases our products’ flexibility, speeds the transfer of information from trailer to dispatcher, and puts new tools in the hands of drivers that allow them to be more efficient and increase their revenue miles,” said Terion President and CEO Ken Cranston.
FleetView 3 is a trailer fleet management system that helps transportation companies maximize operating efficiencies. The product communicates real-time trailer location and event status when the trailer is tethered or untethered, and provides an accurate record of loaded or unloaded status by way of a patented Cargo Sensor. Typical benefits associated with FleetView include an increase in trailer utilization and a reduced trailer-to-tractor ratio. FleetView 3 can be installed on dry vans, flatbeds, and refrigerated trailers — which can be monitored remotely.
