On May 11, Trucker Buddy Fun Day gets underway, featuring benefit activities that kick off the Tennessee Truck Show at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds in Nashville.

Now in its third year, the golf outing at Hermitage Golf Course, hosted by Michon Agency, offers some new and bigger prizes. In addition to the 18-hole scramble and winning opportunities like Longest Drive and Closest To Pin, this year’s fundraiser also includes four Par 3 Hole-In-One prizes including $10,000 cash, two round-trip airline tickets anywhere in the world Delta flies, an Acapulco Vacation Package and a golf driver. The recently organized U.S. Truckers Golf Association is sponsoring these prizes.
First, second, and third-place team plaques will also be presented, sponsored by ACS MultiMedia Advertising.
New this year is the “Strike It Rich” Casino Day made possible by Communications Development. Devised for the non-golfers attending Fun Day, there is an opportunity for golfers to play as well. In addition, gamblers and golfers will share lunch in the pavilion.
“Spaces are still available for both Casino Day and the golf outing, but they are going fast, so register today,” said Roxane Rose, Trucker Buddy executive director.
Registration forms are available on the Trucker Buddy website (www.truckerbuddy.org) or by calling (800) MY-BUDDY (800-692-8339) for information or to register. A few sponsorship opportunities are still available.
Trucker Buddy International is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping educate and mentor schoolchildren via a pen pal relationship between professional truck drivers and children in Grades 2-8. Trucker Buddy matches classes of students with professional truck drivers, and every week drivers share news about their travels with their class. Once a month, students write letters to their drivers.
Students’ skills in reading, writing, geography, mathematics, social studies and history are enhanced and learning is fun. Since 1992, Trucker Buddy has helped educate more than a million schoolchildren while introducing them to caring, compassionate men and women who help drive the economy. Trucker Buddy has participants in North America, Australia, and New Zealand.
