MAGTEC Products Inc., manufacturer of the M5K onboard control device, said it is working with Qualcomm Inc., to integrate MAGTEC’s M5K with Qualcomm’s OmniTRACS system to allow dispatchers
to communicate over the air with the M5K.
The state-of-the-art M5K focuses on driver management, vehicle control, asset protection and prevention of cargo theft. It will integrate with Qualcomm’s Vehicle Command & Control, a web-based vehicle security and driver management tool.
Carriers with high-risk or high-value cargoes will be able to limit access to authorized drivers only, and dispatchers can manage driver authentication codes and truck identifications, change codes in route and even disable a moving vehicle, if necessary. This solution is anticipated to be commercially available in summer 2006.
