The recent World of Concrete show in Las Vegas kicked off the construction season and Kenworth figures to be right in the mix of a solid 2006 market.

Gary Moore, Kenworth assistant general manager for marketing and sales, said the construction market will be aided by $24 billion in 2006 funding allocated to improve highways and relieve congestion as part of the extended Transportation Equity Act and by federal funds for hurricane relief in the Gulf Coast.
Visitors to Kenworth’s booth showed special interest in two Kenworth T800s and a W900S. The trucks featured a new cab interior introduced in 2006 models that provides enhanced driver comfort, multiplexed electronic instrumentation, and world-class fit and finish. One T800 showcased the popular Kenworth Extended Day Cab option and the second was configured as a stone spreader – with a conveyor off the dump body. The W900S was spec’d as an Arizona mixer with two 8,000-pound pusher axles.
“Kenworth’s Extended Day Cab provides more leg and head room and additional storage space,” said Moore. “The new cab interior, front engine power take-off option, and 38-inch AeroCab sleeper options on the T800 wide-hood model also have been well received by customers. The 28-inch bumper setting on the W900S makes it a popular solution for mixer and other applications required to meet federal bridge formula regulations.”
A Kenworth T300 dump truck completed the booth lineup. “The Kenworth T300 continues to see growing success in the construction industry,” Moore said. “The T300 has the heritage of Kenworth’s Class 8 trucks, so customers know that they’re getting reliability and durability as part of the package.”
Kenworth and its dealer network are dedicated to spec’ing the right truck for each customer application. “There are so many ways to spec a construction truck – more than 200 possibilities for dump trucks alone, and each state and province has its own vehicle weights and dimension rules,” said Moore. “It’s critical that the Kenworth dealer salesperson can work closely with a customer to determine how the truck will be used and how it can deliver profitability to the customer.”
