Nearly 500 Kenworth dealer salespeople in the United States and Canada recently participated in the Kenworth Walk-Around Competition to increase product knowledge and presentation skills.

Bill Goddard of MHC Kenworth-Kansas City captured the championship and the $5,000 first prize in the competition, which focused on Kenworth’s 2006 model T800 Extended Day Cab. Goddard, who advanced by winning the Central region, is a veteran participant in the Kenworth walk-around competition and finished third last year.
In the runner-up spot was West region winner Don Blake of Inland Kenworth in Phoenix, Ariz., while Great Lakes region winner Brad Burton of Lower Great Lakes Kenworth in South Bend, Ind., finished third.
Other region champions and walk-around finalists were Jim Bednar, Custom Truck Sales, Winnipeg, Man.; (Canada); Bill McMaster, Kenworth of Pennsylvania; New Stanton, Pa. (Northeast); and Mike Coward, MHC Kenworth-Chattanooga, Chattanooga, Tenn. (Southeast).
During the competition, participants “walk around” the truck to discuss key features, advantages and benefits and are graded on their presentation. The six finalists won their district competition and then their region title to advance to the North American championship held at the recent Kenworth Dealer Meeting in Palm Springs, Calif.
