Jacobs Vehicle Systems has been selected to supply Jake Brake engine brakes for DaimlerChrysler’s next generation global heavy duty engine platform.

Building upon its long-term relationship with Detroit Diesel Corp., Jacobs Vehicle Systems is partnering with DaimlerChrysler to supply an integrated Jake Brake system into its new commercial vehicle engines. The global platform will serve NAFTA, Europe and Japanese markets.
“We are extremely pleased with the relationship between Jacobs Vehicle Systems and DaimlerChrylser,” said Dave Smith, vice president of engineering with Jacobs Vehicle Systems. “Working with DaimlerChrysler from the earliest stages has led to a benchmark product meeting all Voice of the Customer requirements.”
All North American heavy-duty diesel engine manufacturers as well as Hino, Daewoo, Hyundai and Mitsubishi in Asia, Renault V.I. and DAF in Europe and DaimlerChrysler use the Jake Brake product line globally. With sites in China, Mexico, Europe and Japan, Jacobs Vehicle Systems is headquartered in Bloomfield, Conn., where it has a 260,000-square-foot design, testing and manufacturing facility.
