Legal expert Arthur Miller will address the implications of the changing makeup of the Supreme Court at the ATA Litigation Center Board of Directors meeting
to be held in conjunction with ATA’s 2005 Management Conference and Exhibition (MC&E).
ATA President and CEO Bill Graves said Professor Miller, a leading legal scholar at Harvard since 1971, is best known as the host of “Miller’s Court” and as a legal analyst for “Good Morning America.”
“Professor Miller is one of America’s leading authorities on civil procedure, copyright and complex litigation,” Graves said. “Any time there are significant changes to the makeup of the court, as we have recently seen, there will be questions regarding the philosophy and direction of the Supreme Court. We are delighted that Professor Miller will share his perspectives on the new court lineup.”
ATA’s 2005 MC&E also will feature former U.S. Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham and former U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge as keynote speakers. Abraham and Ridge will address two of the most critical issues facing trucking today: soaring fuel costs and ever-tighter security requirements.
This year’s MC&E will include more than 20 educational seminars, panel discussions, and keynote speeches designed to keep top executives ahead of the curve on key industry issues:
• All Eyes on the Economy, an annual highlight of the MC&E, will feature Fox News analyst Stuart Varney, U.S. Chamber of Commerce Chief Economist Dr. Marty Regalia and other top economists in an expert analysis of energy costs, interest rates, and business prospects for 2006.
• Diesel Engine Update: Preparing for 2007 will highlight the fast-approaching 2007 diesel engine emissions standards. A panel of senior executives representing major carriers and engine manufacturers will analyze the implications of the new regulations.
• Other topics scheduled to be highlighted at MC&E include litigation risks, security, employee recruitment, health care, and the latest in engines, tires, and technology.
The 2005 MC&E will be held in Boston Oct. 15-18, 2005. MC&E is the trucking industry’s leading trade show, with more than 100 exhibitors showcasing the latest in technology, educational sessions to keep busy executives ahead of the game as well as serve as a networking tool for key business contacts.
