All three Con-Way Transportation less-than-truckload operating companies – Con-Way Western Express (CWX), Con- Way Central Express (CCX), Con-Way Southern Express – and five driver sales representatives
were honored at the national and state levels for their overall safety programs and safe operating records.
The American Trucking Associations presented its President's Trophy in the 100 Million Miles Driven category to Con-Way Western Express at its recent Safety and Loss Prevention Management Council conference in Miami. The trophy recognized CWX for having the best safety record of any large fleet carrier in the United States and the company's efforts to promote safety throughout the company, the trucking industry and to the general public. Over 150 large trucking companies competed for the honor. Kevin M. Hartman, president of Con-Way Western Express accepted the trophy. The award is sponsored by the Great West Casualty company. The ATA also awarded the company first place in the General Commodities LTL/Linehaul 50 to 100 Million Miles Driven category.
