Ryder System Inc., Miami, Fla., announced a partnership with Instructional Technologies Inc. (ITI) to host, market and distribute an Internet version of ITI's interactive driver training program
called TREAD-1.
The program, which will be marketed under the name Ryder Pro-TREAD, is designed for Ryder customers, drivers and the transportation industry and is available through www.rydersafetyservices.com division of Ryder.
The program is a series of interactive lessons, compliant with federally approved driver training lessons designed to increase driver safety and strengthen risk management. The program includes training in topics such as defensive driving, driver wellness, driver qualifications and hours of service, and is designed to train both new and veteran commercial truck drivers in large fleets or small trucking companies.
"We needed a quality driver training program for our customers, drivers and the transportation industry that would be offered on the Internet. Since we had past success with ITI's TREAD-1 program, it was only natural for us to collaborate with them for this online version,” said Scott Gates, general manager of Ryder Fleet Products.
“Not only can fleets train so as to avoid costly incidents in the first place, but the free, private, web-based data management system each customer is given allows them to track and document that training for legal and risk management issues," said E. Bruce Weiss, executive president of ITI.
According to Ryder, business accounts are available and lessons can be purchased on line using credit cards.
