Mack Trucks Inc. said the winner of the first ever Bulldog Idol contest that took place during the company’s Community Open House on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 19
, at its Macungie Assembly Operations, celebrating the 100th anniversary of Mack in the Lehigh Valley region of eastern Pennsylvania.
Sporting a tool belt and dressed in a hard hat and “Built Like a Mack Truck” T-shirt, “Gordon” took home first prize in a competition that featured 18 other bulldogs, many sporting equally clever outfits.
“It was a very tough competition,” said Mack spokesperson John Walsh, one of the contest judges. “A lot of the owners really did a great job with the costumes. But in the end, being Mack, we had to go with Gordon, who would look right at home in a one of our industry-leading construction trucks.”
An estimated 5,000 people attended the Open House, which also featured displays of both antique and current Mack models, and walking tours of the plant.
