Mobile communications provider GeoLogic Solutions, Herndon, Va., announced Wednesday it will add Cingular's GPRS network to its current selection of communications offerings.

The new network will be available this fall. Cingular GPRS is a so-called 3G, or third generation, wide-band service that enables affordable transmission of large amounts of data.
Cingular's GPRS network will be available as a terrestrial network option for the MobileMax Multi-Mode satellite and terrestrial mobile communications and fleet management system. The new Cingular offering will not only be a network alternative for new customers, but will also be offered as an upgrade to existing MobileMax units. This new communication option will be compatible with all MobileMax units in the field and will function with current dispatch systems. This transition gives existing customers the ability to remain on the current Motient DataTAC network, switch to Cingular or have a combination of both networks throughout their fleet.
"One of our top priorities is to continue to improve our products by making the right decisions on which technology solutions are best for our customers," said John Lewis, CEO for GeoLogic Solutions. "Adding the Cingular network is one of many enhancements we plan to offer in the future."
