XATA Corp., Minneapolis, Minn., has announced the release of XATANET 3.0, an updated onboard fleet management system for private fleet transportation.

XATANET 3.0 uses technologies originally developed for Fortune 500 customers, that enable fleets of all sizes to improve fuel economy, automate compliance reporting, increase driver productivity and enhance customer service.
“Fortune 500 fleets have historically enjoyed substantial operational advantages over the much broader market of private fleets because of their unique ability to leverage sophisticated fleet management tools like our industry leading OpCenter product line,” said Tom Flies, vice president of business development for XATA. “XATANET 3.0 brings these same proven tools to the broader market via the internet.”
XATANET 3.0 includes innovative new features; one example is Smart Route, a tool to communicate and monitor trip plans from the initial dispatch to the ultimate delivery – all without paper. Smart Route functionality coupled with multi-mode communication enables fleets to integrate with routing and dispatch applications. Drivers use wireless communications to pick up electronic trip plans from the XATANET web site. After delivery, trip information is displayed on the web site for plan versus actual analysis. XATANET’s multi-mode communications system introduced in November, 2004, switches automatically between satellite and digital cellular selecting the least-costly option.
