Central Freight Lines Inc. announced two executive appointments this week. Phillip (Phil) A. Nelms was named vice president of special services and Bert Steed was appointed western division region manager.

Nelms wil work out of Central’s Dallas Central Line Department and report to Gary McCartney, vice president of operations. He takes responsibility for Central's guaranteed service product, all purchase transportation providers and Central's owner/operators. Nelms joins Central from USF Dugan, where he served as the Director of Transportation.
Steed will work out of Central’s Sacramento terminal and report to Eric Rhea, western division vice president. He assumes responsibility for all operations and sales efforts in the company's Bakersfield, Chico, Fresno, Hayward, Medford,
Reno, Sacramento, Las Vegas and Stockton terminals.
Steed joins Central from Saia, where he served as the Sacramento Regional Operations and Sales Manager.
