This month HDX Services of Ada, Mich., a nonprofit organization providing products for electronic commerce, plans to introduce an electronic Price File Library
(PFL) for the heavy duty parts industry. The PFL enables distributors to download standard-format price files from participating manufacturers. At least 15 manufacturers are expected to offer price files to 25 distributors for the 2006 price change season which begins in September.
The PFL is an Internet-based product requiring security procedures for both manufacturers and distributors. The database architecture of the PFL is based on HDX’s Price Communications File Specification Standard and will be delivered to distributors in ASCII format. This format can be imported to all major spreadsheet and database programs.
