According to the American Trucking Associations, its Intermodal Motor Carriers Conference has reached an agreement with the Ocean Carrier Equipment Management Assn. and the Association of American Railroads
on federal requirements involving the maintenance, repair, inspection and shared responsibility of intermodal equipment traveling on U.S. highways.
In its notice, Monday, the ATA noted the the political importance of intermodal equipment providers joining motor carriers on federal action. ATA also said "this legislation on enactment would provide a clear direction and framework for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration during the ensuing agency equipment safety review and promulgation process."
