At the Truckload Carriers Assn. convention in Las Vegas this week, XTRA Lease, St. Louis, Mo., announced the widespread availability of XTRA Xpress
, a mobile technology solution that provides fleets instant electronic notification of rental activity and real-time access to rental information. XTRA Lease already supplies Internet-based FleetView trailer tracking from Terion on virtually all trailers.
For most fleets, keeping track of trailer rentals involves hunting down paperwork given to drivers by rental companies. Those papers are often carbon copies of originals. When old-style carbon copies are faxed, clarity erodes. And sometimes, of course, the papers simply go astray and never find their way back to the customer.
Now, according to XTRA Lease, Xpress changes how fleets rent trailers. Using Xpress, XTRA Lease completes all customer transactions –- trailer pick-ups and returns -– electronically with an Intermec handheld computer, producing instant e-mail notifications to the customer immediately. Customers also receive a digital copy of the rental agreement linked to each e-mail so they can process transactions more efficiently, reduce paperwork and make faster decisions.
According to XTRA Lease, customers will be able to access all their account information on a secure web site. Customers will be able to view account activity, both historic and current, including XTRA Lease trailers still in their fleets, information that can improve fleet utilization.
XTRA Xpress is currently available at more than half of XTRA Lease’s 80 U.S and Canada locations and will arrive at remaining locations by mid-summer.
