The U.S. Professional Truck Driver Championships, the alternative, non-ATA driver competition, has announced its 2005 national competition will take place July 27-30 at the Wyndham Harbour Island
in Tampa, Fla.
The U.S. competition was established as an alternative to the National Professional Truck Driver Championships, which is limited to drivers for companies belonging to the American Trucking Associations. This will be the U.S. competition’s fifth annual event.
According to USPTDC website, all drivers with a prior accident free year are eligible to compete this year. Organizers call the USPTDC “a true open competition.”
Participants compete in a written exam based on Federal Motor Carriers Safety Regulations. They will perform a pre-trip inspection and navigate a driving course with six obstacles.
Entry forms are available at the USPTDC web site (www.usptdc.com) or by calling Mike Tallaksen at 815-729-1308 x269 or Ernie Hardy at 908-965-0100 x270.
The entry fee is $100.00. Checks should be payable to NJMTA/PDC
