Ryder System, Miami, Fla., has purchased 4 G's Truck Renting Co., a privately owned truck leasing and rental company in Brooklyn, N.Y., but won’t reveal how many G’s it paid.
The 4 G’s fleet includes about 400 vehicles and 100 customers. 4 G, while not a large company, was a familiar name on roads throughout the New York Metropolitan area.
Ryder said it will service customers of 4 G's Truck Renting Co. from existing Ryder branches in the greater New York area, including its Long Island City facility in Queens. Ryder did not say how much it paid for 4 G's or whether it will keep its employees.
Louis Silverman, 4 G's owner, did not mention price or employment, either. He did say Ryder will be able to provide his customers new resources and increased product offerings, including insurance.
