At the Truckload Carriers Assn. convention in Las Vegas, PeopleNet Inc. this week announced two new features for its g3 mobile communications and fleet management system
Onboard Event Recorder
Onboard Event Recorder
introduced in October. Both upgrades will be delivered to customers’ onboard systems wirelessly through over-the-air programming as part of the company’s first quarter product update.
One new feature, Onboard Event Recording, gives fleets second-by-second recorded data to help reconstruct accidents and review driver performance. Fleets can determine what events are recorded and how they are recorded. Then, they can be transferred in real-time delivering details such as time of event, odometer at time of event, vehicle speed, engine speed, GPS location and direction. A user friendly interface makes it easy to set parameters, decide on frequency of reports and set up screens and reports for visual representations of events and driver behavior. For example, the "switches" graph shown here uses color coding to display driver events in a given time frame, showing among other things when brakes were applied and for how long.
Another feature, Detention Time Standards Reporting, builds on the PeopleNet Activity Standards platform and allows accurate measurement and easy reporting of detention times. The feature provides summary reporting that is configurable across multiple customer locations, specific legs of a trip, and specific groups of vehicles within a fleet. It also provides exception reporting for data over or under defined thresholds
According to the company, both features are currently in the beta-testing phase and will be commercially available at the end of March.
