New Century Transportation, with headquarters in Westampton, N.J., has announced an increase in its driver compensation, effective April 10.

The top rate for all road drivers will increase to 49 cents per mile. This means all new drivers who can verify at least 12 years of professional tractor-trailer driving experience will start at 49 cents per mile. In addition, the LTL/Truckload carrier pays road and regional drivers $15 for each LTL delivery and pick-up they make.
New Century requires its drivers have a minimum of three years tractor-trailer driving experience. Road drivers with the minimum experience level will start at 41.5 cents per mile, plus $15 per stop. New England regional drivers are paid at the rate of 55 cents per mile plus $15 per stop. The top rate of pay for New Century local drivers will be $22.02 per hour under the new pay structure.
In addition, all New Century Professional Drivers receive benefits, including heath care, dental coverage, vision coverage, life insurance, seven paid holidays, five paid personal days, paid vacations and a 401k savings plan with company match.
According to John Zimmerman, manager of driver recruiting, "In 2004, New Century company drivers averaged over $72,000." This number takes into consideration all drivers who were employed by the company as of Jan. 1, 2004.
New Century Transportation services customers throughout the 48 contiguous states with a fleet of modern equipment, including Freightliner and Kenworth tractors pulling dry vans, heated dry vans and reefers.
