USF Corp., Chicago, Ill., said the company and its employees have raised $60,000 for the victims of the recent tsunami disaster.

Shortly after the events in the Indian Ocean, USF CEO Thomas E. Bergmann announced a program giving employees an opportunity to donate through the company.
In ceremonies at USF headquarters in Chicago, checks were presented to representatives of both Catholic Relief Services and the American Red Cross.
"The response of USF employees to this tragedy has been heartwarming," said Bergmann. "Since I joined USF, I have been impressed by the generous nature of our employees and their willingness to help others. I am proud that USF has played a part in what the American Red Cross has called, 'one of the greatest demonstrations of compassion and support in its 124-year history.' My thanks go to all USF employees who participated in this effort."
