LTL Carrier Overnite Corp., Richmond, Va., reported Thursday that it had earned $63.3 million, or $2.27 a share, on sales of $1.65 billion
, up from $46.9 million, or $1.70 a share, on revenue of $1.48 billion. Quarterly income was $16.6 million, or 59 cents per share, up from $3.1 million, or 11 cents a share, a year ago. Revenue was $421.4 million, up 12 percent from $378 million last year.
This marks Overnite’s first full year of reporting since the company was spun off from the Union Pacific Corp.
