The Agricultural and Food Transporters Conference of the American Trucking Assns. recently recognized the service of former Secretary of Agriculture Ann M. Veneman.

AFTC Immediate past chairman and ATA vice chairman Charles “Shorty” Whittington, and AFTC executive director Fletcher Hall, presented Veneman with the AFTC Outstanding Service Award last week in Washington, D.C.
During the meeting with the secretary, AFTC officials discussed the new USDA/AFTC Security Guide for Security Practices in the Transportation of Agricultural and Food Commodities. These voluntary guidelines, developed cooperatively between AFTC and USDA, provide commercial transporters of agricultural commodities and food with practical, easily usable, methods to secure their vehicles and facilities.
The USDA/AFTC Guide introduced at the 2004 annual meeting of the Agricultural and Food Transporters, and is available from both the AFTC and the United States Department of Agriculture.
